This image is interesting because it mixes a continuous pattern with a discontinuous one (speaking about continuity of the color when moving from one spot of the image to another). The top left corner is mainly continuous, where as the center (near the rectangles) is not.

This dichotomy has consequences on the patterns. The discontinuous pattern displays rectangles and clear shapes, with an "industrial" feel. The continuous one is more irregular, fractal and organic. They blend in a very interesting way. It's impossible to tell where one starts and when the other stops. And it is not a simple superposition, they really represent two sides of the same underlying structure. For instance you can easily follow one of these vertical or horizontal lines through the whole image, going from one pattern to another.
